Fix an Uninstaller That Will Not Open

Check permissions, missing files, security controls, and vendor repair options before forced removal.

Troubleshooting should isolate one change at a time. Preserve the exact error, application version, install source, Windows build, and relevant logs. Reinstalling or deleting folders immediately can erase evidence without correcting the cause.

When the uninstall wizard does not start

Missing installer components, a broken shortcut, wrong permissions or endpoint protection can prevent the uninstall executable from opening. Blindly deleting Program Files usually makes the issue harder to repair.

Resolution sequence

  1. Locate the correct uninstall entry in Settings or Control Panel.
  2. Check the application's original publisher and file location.
  3. Use the vendor's repair operation or reinstall the same version when supported.
  4. Restart, then retry the normal uninstall before choosing a forced-removal option.

Revo's forced removal can be considered only when the target application is clearly identified. See Force Uninstall a Broken Program.
